How do I get clarity about who I am?

Mar 05, 2026

How do I know who the new me is when I feel so lost all the time?  One day I feel great – I’ve got this, I am strong and can do anything only to wake up the next day feeling confused, with no clear idea on who I am and what I am meant to be.

This is a natural progression of self-development in life, like the ebbs and flows of the tide, we ride these waves.  The trick is to do it with an awareness, a clarity of understanding our own journey and that this is simply the process of stepping into the new you.

To walk this path with the least resistance, empathy and compassion for self, it is important to spend some time pondering, visualising who the ‘New You’ is. How do you move through this world of challenges and uncertainty? What are your thoughts? How do you feel? How do you show up for yourself and others, what impact, imprint do you want to make in your world?

All of these questions begin to help you build clarity about yourself and who you are and how you want to live, in flow, with confidence and ease.

What is the definition of clarity? Well if you google or AI it, such as I just did to search of a simple dictionary definition, you might get confused!  I am here laughing to myself because there were so versions, so perhaps it’s best to start with what are some key elements that are present when a lack of clarity shows up:

- Struggling with making choices, decisions, feeling unsure about what to do or which path to take
- Feeling confused, overwhelmed, stressed, anxious or tired
- Feeling in a fog or “brain dead”
- Rehashing the same situations or problems over and over again
- Feeling stuck

So, if this is what lack of clarity looks like, what are some key elements that show up when clarity is present and how they can help you visualise and build clarity for yourself in 4 easy to follow steps:

1. Your Mindset, by focusing on what you want versus what you don’t want.
They are choosing a positive mindset. When you catch yourself in the negative, making the switch out of the negative mindset into a positive mindset often aligns with shifting your personal power centre from a state of victimhood to full acceptance of your own full self-agency and self-accountability – it is on me.

  1. Knowing what you want and why, connecting with your passion, and what I mean by this is what gives you meaning, happiness, What do I do that gives me value within myself.
If you are not sure yet, here are some questions you might want to ask yourself to spark ideas.
    - What brings you joy? What do you like?
    - What are you good at, your talents?  Take an inventory.
    - What are you doing when you feel beautiful?
    - What did you love doing as a child?
    - What activities do you do that make you lose track of time or forget to eat?
    - If you could fully choose what job you wanted to have, what would it be?
    - What is your superpower?
See your passion hunt as a fun, joyful adventure, because it is a journey that evolves over time in alignment with your evolution.  There’s no deadline on this.  Move where your joy is and you are on the right track.
  2. Now it’s time to get your ideas out of your head and onto paper.  It’s time for planning.  What I mean by that is moving the concept into reality.  How, by aligning your thoughts and feelings, is your actions in your daily life. How am I choosing to see, speak, feel and do that brings me joy and is aligned to my passions.

It’s time to now shift focus from the clarity building activities above.  These visualisation techniques are a gift and have given you space to paint a picture of how you want yourself and your life to be. It helps you being the re-wiring of your brain by building new neural pathways, helping you understand how to act differently so your old patterns and beliefs can be let go of and opens a door to be able to step into the ‘New You’ or as I like to say, who you truly were all along. And finally,

  1. Who can help you reach your goals?  One thing I know to be true for creating profound, grounded and sustainable change, is having the right person for support and guidance.  Someone to keep you on track, who knows you, understands what you are becoming, identifies when your old patterns and beliefs are raring their head or challenges are feeling insurmountable and stopping you.  Someone to hold your hand, walk beside you, from a place of deep knowing and expertise to help you fully embrace your evolution and enjoy your journey into who you truly are.

That is my superpower, my love and passion.  When you are ready, I am here for you!
